The J. Freirich Company is an 80-year young family owned and managed meat processing company headquartered in Salisbury, NC. The company has one production facilitie on the East Coast where it produces cooked and cured meats, including prime rib, corned beef, pastrami, smoked pork butts, pot roast, and many other specialty items.
The J. Freirich Company maintains strong loyalty among its Corned Beef customers and enjoys a better than 40% market share in the New York City metro market and other areas of distribution.
A Family Business
The family patriarch, Julian Freirich, started the company in 1921 with a small meat processing operation in Long Island City. The company specialized in smoked beef tongues and smoked pork butts. Today, son Jerry, grandson Jeff and great-grandson Paul run the business and its facility in Salisbury, North Carolina. The Freirich Company has grown to achieve more than $40 million in annual sales and is recognized as one of the leading privately held meat processors in the country.
A Tradition of Quality
The Freirich family prides itself on innovation and bringing new products to the marketplace while still maintaining decades of traditional know-how and flavor. Freirich is the only major deli meat processor that produces dry open oven roasted products, just like you would fix at home.
While many companies have gone to quicker processing with added preservatives, Freirich has maintained its flavor with modern equipment. The end result is a cooked product with a crisp finish on the outside and tender juiciness on the inside.
The Freirich family continues to have family members supervising it's production facility and has a long-term orientation in upholding the quality and flavor standards of the company.

The J. Freirich Company has developed a reputation for extraordinary customer service and is pleased to sell its products to most major food service distributors, including SYSCO, Alliant, US Food Service and PYA. Freirich is proud to be the second largest packer of SYSCO’s Block and Barrel deli line. In addition, Freirich is the specified deli product at such national chains as Friendly ice cream,Sodex, Tidewater, Star purchasing, Erickson retirement, Extendacare and many other well-known names.
The J. Freirich Company has enjoyed a predominant market share in retail corned beef and other smoked meats in the New York metro area. The Freirich Porkette® (Smoked Pork Butt), a signature item, is the category leader in one of the most discriminating retail markets in the country: New York City. Freirich customers include retailers such as A & P, Shoprite, Pathmark, King Kullen and Ahold in the New York metro market. On the East Coast Freirich’s partners include Stop and Shop, Weis Markets, Superfresh, Supervalue, Giant, Wegmans, Harris Teeter, Fresh Market, Ingles, Kash N Karry and USave.
